Francesco Diodati is a modern guitar player whose inspiration is steeped in traditional jazz, contemporary, rock and folk music. He has developed his personal language by combining a spontaneous melodic approach with a clever use of electronics and effects.
Francesco is Neko’s band leader, including Francesco Bigoni and Carlo Conti, Francesco Ponticelli, Ermanno Baron, that has debuted in 2008 and since then is touring worldwide. In 2010 the group releases a first album, Purple Bra, published by Auand Records, amongst the most important European labels for contemporary jazz., followed by Need Something Strong. Both the albums have received an enthusiastic response by critics.
He also leads the band Yellow Squeeds, his new “Tuba band”,  with Francesco Lento and Mirco Rubegni, Enrico Zanisi, Glauco Benedetti and Enrico Morello. They released their first album in 2015, “Flow, Home.” for Auand.
Since 2014 Francesco is part of the New Quartet of Enrico Rava and they also play in duo.
Since 2010 he is part of the ambitious project “MyanmarMeetsEurope”, which tours extensively in Asia and Europe.
He also joins the band of Erica Mou, one of the most talented Italian singer songwriters.
Active on national and international jazz scene, Francesco is part of Marcello Allulli Trio, Italian/French band Travelers, leaded by Matteo Bortone, Julian Pontvianne Abhra, Bobby Previte Plutino, Gaetano Partipilo Contemporary Five, Simona Severini Ensemble.
Recent and noteworthy partnerships include those with Jim Black, Dave Binney, Paolo Fresu, Antonello Salis, Shane Endsley, Sofia Ribeiro, Javier Moreno, Fabrizio Bosso, Roberta Gambarini, Greta Panettieri, Ada Montellanico.
Recently Francesco has been voted as best Guitar Player of 2013, 2014 and 2015 by the Italian Jazz Magazine Jazzit.
Born in 1983 and raised in Rome (Italy), Francesco was twelve years old when he started playing guitar, quickly demonstrating a precocious talent and a natural disposition to creativity and improvisation. He attended the In.Ja.M. master by Siena Jazz between 2008 and 2010, with lessons by Kurt Rosenwinkel, John Abercrombie, Hein Van De Geyn, Jeff Ballard, Drew Gress, Seamus Blake, Roberto Cecchetto and many others. He was also selected among the master best students to partecipate to the Panama Jazz Festival in 2010 and to play in a series of concerts in the USA, in an exchange program between Berklee Global Jazz Institute of Boston and Conservatoire  National Supérieur de Paris. In 2009 he receives one of the highest scholarship ever to be given to a guitarist to attend prestigious New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York, where he meets Reggie Workman, Ben Allison, Peter Bernstein, Rachel Z, Rory Stuart and many others.
He has participated as leader and sideman in numerous festivals around the world, host of important institutions such as the  What If Festival, Fat Cat, Smalls, Zebulon (USA), 12! Francesco Diodati è un chitarrista che prende ispirazione dalla tradizione e guarda alla musica contemporanea, rock, folk, per sviluppare un linguaggio personale, combinando un approccio spontaneo alla melodia e al suono acustico con un brillante utilizzo di elettronica e effetti. E’ leader del Neko, di cui fanno parte Francesco Bigoni, Carlo Conti, Francesco Ponticelli ed Ermanno Baron, con i quali ha inciso due album per l’etichetta AUAND Records: Purple Bra nel 2010, Need Something Strong nel 2012, e del quintetto Yellow Squeeds, completato da Francesco Lento, Enrico Zanisi, Glauco Benedetti e Enrico Morello, con i quali ha registrato nel 2015 l’album “Flow, Home.” sempre per AUAND.
Dal 2014 fa parte del New Quartet del trombettista Enrico Rava, con il quale collabora anche in duo.
Dal 2010 è membro dell’ambizioso progetto MyanmarMeetsEurope, incontro tra musica europea e musica birmana, guidato dal compositore e contrabbassista tedesco Tim Isfort e patrocinato dal Goethe Institute, che lo ha portato a numerosi concerti in Europa e in Asia.
Inoltre dal 2013 collabora assiduamente con la cantautrice pugliese Erica Mou.
Attivo a livello nazionale e internazionale, è parte del Marcello Allulli Trio, del gruppo italo-francese Travelers di Matteo Bortone, del gruppo Abhra di Julian Pontvianne, Bobby Previte Plutino, di vari ensemble della cantante romana Ada Montellanico, dei Contemporary Five di Gaetano Partipilo e del gruppo di Simona Severini.
